A NEW RECIPE, GIFT FROM A FRIEND

Last week, the restaurant was the host for the weekly meeting of the chefs of the city. I met this chef from north area, he was really very generous to the group. he donated several new cooking equipments for the culinary school. Aside from that, he also gave 20 scholarship grants to those students who gained outstanding remarks in the culinary school. Chefs in the meeting were given new recipe books that he personally authored and signed.

According to the culinary school dean, he was the guest visitor of the meeting. He is from Italy and he owns a restaurant there. His name is chef Brian Rojas. He will be in the city for another week just to check the improvements in the new culinary school, where he is one of the board of directors.

As the host restaurant, chef Brian Rojas also gave me a limited edition recipe book and several recipes that chef Brian Rojas personally wrote. The meeting of chefs will resume next week. According to the dean, the venue might still be in my restuarant because chef Brian Rojas likes it. Very excited to prepare for the next meeting. I will be cooking one of the recipes that chef Brian Rojas gave me.

NEW AND EXCITING DISHES PREPARED

The restaurant will be changing its daily menu for the week. Instead of just plain house recipes, the restaurant will be cooking Italian and Spanish dishes to all. Everyday, the restaurant will be cooking around 10 viands and 4 desserts. The will be a price increase, slightly, since all the dishes that will be prepared are all specially made dishes.

There is also a new chef assisting in the restaurant. His name is chef Brian Rojas. He will be assisting in the kitchen and restaurant operation for about 3 months. This is part of his practicum in the culinary school. Happy to be working with chef Brian Rojas in the restaurant.

YUMMY LUNCH WITH HUBBY

Today is a special day because it is my hubby's birthday. He is now 30 years old. This lunch, I prepared his favorite dish. it is the pork binagoongan special. This dish is made of pork and some salted beans and the most important of all is the bagoong. Bagoong is a local delight made in the coastal areas. it is known in the country because it is the famous all-time appetizer. The bagoong is natually salty and it is the salt carrier in the bagoong pork that I cooked this lunch time.

I have still many dishes prepared tonight because we are expecting visitors in our house. Tonight I will be busy in the kitchen to monitor the cooking progress and also to see to it that all things are well prepared. We are expecting around 20 visitors, relatives and friends. I am glad and happy that I was able to satisfy my hubby's food for lunch. I am constantly looking at my watch, monitoring the time so that I will be able to start cooking without time pressure.

COOKING INVITATION

I was called by my friend this morning. He was asking me if my schedule is free this Sunday. it is because there is a big event and I am one of his selected chefs to assist in the kitchen. My expertise is cooking meats or the main dish. That is why he called me for the task. The cooking event will happen in the hotel here in the city. I still need to know the details because he said to me that it is going to be a wedding but that is still unclear.

My friend also told me to give him the list pf dishes that I will be preparing so that there will be no repetition of dish. Aside from me, there are also other chefs invited to join the cooking invitation. We will be meeting tomorrow for the finalization of dishes to be cooked in the event. I need to check new recipes in the recipe book for reference. I have already selected 4 dishes and I will still be finding more recipes to prepare.

SPOILED FOOD IS NO GOOD

I was cleaning the refrigerator and noticed this plate covered food. As I opened the plate, I saw spoiled food and it was no good to eat. According to my helper, the food was yesterday's take out when I got home. But I never thought that the food would spoil fast. It is because food from the restaurant don't spoil fast. I bought the food at a nearby food chain store.

As a chef, I would never encourage foods to be reheated because there is a tendency that the food might spoil. it would be bst to discard foods that are leftovers because it might cause health problems later on. The spoiled food was immediately thrown away by my house helper. I better check the refrigerator from now and then to see for more foods that are not good to eat.

FOOD FOR THE GAME

My husband's friends are coming to our house to watch the basketball game between Boston and Los Angeles of the NBA Championships. I am preparing for for the game and I am cooking home made chicharon or pork skin delight. The game has already started and my husband told me that his friends are coming. Aside from the pork skin, I am also preparing the food for lunch. This food is what I learned reading my new recipe book.

In a few minutes, they will be coming and I still need to make the for for lunch. I hope I still got the time to prepare all the things that I will be cooking. I really need to return the favor because my husband yesterday night gave a Victory Knox Swiss Army watch. I am using it right now as I am blogging inside my kitchen.
